When you use Talio, you’re chatting with an AI assistant that guides you through financial analysis. But every number you see — every percentage, every dollar amount, every ratio — comes from deterministic, unit-tested code. Not from AI.

Talio has two completely separate components:

The AI assistant handles the conversation. It asks the right questions, helps you figure out which numbers to provide, and interprets the results with industry context. It speaks in natural language so you don’t have to think about which field goes where.

The calculation engine is backend code that runs the actual math. When the AI has collected enough information from you, it passes the numbers to the calculation engine. The engine computes the result using fixed formulas and returns it. The AI then explains what the result means.

The AI never performs arithmetic. It cannot produce a percentage, a cost figure, or a financial ratio on its own. Those numbers always come from the calculation engine.

Why This Matters

Large language models are good at language. They are not reliable at math. A model might tell you your food cost is 28% when it’s actually 32% — and you’d have no way to know. That’s not acceptable when you’re making financial decisions for your business.

By separating the conversation from the computation, we get the best of both:

Accurate numbers from code that is tested against every edge case — zero revenue, negative adjustments, fractional values, rounding
Natural interaction from AI that meets you where you are — whether you think in cases, pounds, or “about 12 plates per order”

Your Data

Not used for AI training. Talio uses enterprise-grade AI services, not consumer AI. Unlike consumer AI products, enterprise AI services have contractual guarantees that your inputs are not used to train or improve models.
Not stored on our servers. Your financial data is processed to perform the calculation and discarded. We do not save it.
Encrypted in transit. All data sent between your device and our backend is encrypted.
No third-party sharing. We do not sell, share, or provide your financial data to anyone.
